What it does: Designs and implements industrial control systems for gas and oil companies worldwide.

Best known for: Its projects for world-renowned oil and power companies like Chevron and Shell. INTECH also designed the distributed control system for the Manzalai Gas Field in the Kohat Basin.

Staff stats: More than 350 employees worldwide, 200 of which are assigned in the Lahore office in Pakistan. 

The good bits: The HR department has an open-door policy where employees are free to express concerns. The workforce department also sees to it that the workload is balanced among employees. Vacation time, health insurance, and other benefits are also given. 

The not so good bits: Tight deadlines and the company's international network may force employees to work late to accommodate partner offices from other countries. Managers are often replaced, leaving teams with incomplete projects. 

The INTECH story

INTECH started its operations in 1992 with only 3 engineers in its team. In 1998, the company became a corporation in the USA. The following year, they opened their first regional office in Nigeria. In 2000, INTECH's international presence reached Singapore. 

In 2002, INTECH closed a deal with world-renowned oil company Chevron for a project in Angola. Its offices in the country opened one year after the project began. 

The company first reached Pakistan in 2004 as they worked for multinational oil company OMV Pakistan. From there, INTECH delivered its expertise in various other countries like Guinea, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Alaska, Russia, and the UAE. 

Today, after over two decades, INTECH now has a total of 13 regional offices across four continents. 

The recruitment process

Applicants at INTECH may submit their CV or resume through a recruiter or via employee referral. The recruitment process may take 1-2 weeks

Chosen applicants will be called in to go through two interviews. The first interview will be about the applicant's professional background. The second interview is a technical evaluation where the applicant will be asked about his/her technical skills. After these interviews, HR will give the applicant a task to test their technical skills. 

If the applicant submits the task within the given deadline, and if the work turned in passes the qualifications of the HR, they will be called in again for the final interview conducted by senior officers. The senior officers will then choose which applicant gets a job offer. 

Career prospects

To work for INTECH is an opportunity to work on a multinational level. Employees have a chance to work with partner offices from other countries and gain international exposure. With that said, competing on a global stage can be quite challenging. Employees who are given opportunities to take on higher positions are expected to deliver consistently according to the standards of the company.

Remuneration

Entry-level employees in INTECH can earn at least PKR 40,000 per month. As the employee moves up into his or her respective department, the salary can go up to PKR 68,000-80,000. Engineers earn at least PKR 94,000-98,000. Those in the managerial level can earn as much as PKR 319,000. 

The culture

The work experience in INTECH can be both cooperative and competitive. Employees are encouraged to take on more responsibilities, and HR always checks up on new hires to make sure they settle in immediately. Every employee is expected to be self-disciplined, proactive, and resourceful to be considered a valued asset in the company.

Social contributions

INTECH has helped its neighbouring community in Pakistan in the past. In the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, for example, INTECH aided the citizens of Mansehra and Balakot that were affected in the earthquake. 90% of the town was destroyed during that time. The company donated relief goods and made donations to the victims of the Kashmir earthquake. 

The vibe of the place 

INTECH employees are friendly yet competitive. Teams are expected to collaborate, yet individually, people are expected to work independently. Candidates should be open to working unusual hours and recognise that with promotion comes higher performance expectations.
